Textures are used for imitating, designing and technical purposes. The automotive industry tries to perfectly imitate natural materials like leather or wood. The consumergoods industry likes to play with new created three dimensional surfaces and packaging suppliers are working with textures to enhance the statics and minimize the layerthickness. Antonius Koester Modellbau is working an new procedures for texturing for four years. The initial task was to create textures on materials that can't be textured in etching processes. Now the main demands on their services are focused on realizing new ideas of designers in injection moulds. One main benefit of this technology is the digital description of the texture, which makes it reproduceable and opens a wide variety of materials. After evaluating the design of the texture by using high resolution rapid-prototyping systems, the data could be used for milling, sparc erosion oder laser engraving. Antonius Koester will present an overview of existing features and some interesting aspects of future developments. |
